As You Like It is a romantic comedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written around 1599. The play follows the story of Rosalind, who flees persecution in her uncle’s court by disguising herself as a young man named Ganymede and escaping to the Forest of Arden. There, she encounters her love interest, Orlando, and a variety of other characters who are also seeking refuge or self-discovery. The play explores themes of love, identity, nature vs. society, and the fluidity of gender roles, all with Shakespeare’s trademark wit and wordplay. It ends with multiple weddings and a sense of restored harmony.
